So for a bit of fun (and because the hotel’s pretty quiet at the moment) we thought we would introduce some members of our team with a quick Q&A…you may recognise a few familiar faces if you’ve visited us before.

Hannah Brown

Job Role: Head Receptionist

1.When did you join the KA team?
February 2008- On my first day there was a chimney fire so I spent most of it outside while the fire brigade checked the structure of the chimney was safe.

2.Favourite part about your job?
Getting to know our residents, there’s nothing nicer than seeing familiar faces, I love to chat and it makes my day. Also helping people with walking routes and where to visit during their stay.

3.Least favourite part about your job?
Saying no I’m sorry we are full as I want everyone to stay!

4. Favourite tipple at the KA bar?
I don’t have one but I do love a pint of real ale

5.Favourite place to eat out in Swansea?
I don’t eat out much as apparently, I’m a great cook, my boyfriend’s excuse for not taking me anywhere! I do love Wrights just outside Carmarthen does that count?

6. Pet peeve?
My pet peeves have all come from Kim who owns the hotel, Kim’s pet peeves are mine now too! One that annoys me the most is people who throw rubbish on an unlit fire!

7. Have you met any famous people who have been through the KA doors?
Yes I do get to meet a lot of well-known faces as they stay because they are filming in the area, Sir Trevor McDonald was lovely.

8. Random fact about yourself?
My birthday is Christmas Day, best Christmas present my parents ever received!

9. Favourite Gower beauty spot?
There are so many, I love Whitford lighthouse, it’s worth the journey and also Skysea point in Port Eynon. I live near Langland so that has to be my favourite beach as I walk there every morning with the dog before work.

10. What is getting you through isolation?
I am gardening, crocheting and cooking. I pretty much live for hobbies so I’m always busy. So far today I’ve almost crocheted a hat, baked an apple cake and now I’m pottering in my vegetable garden

1.When did you join the KA team?
March 2012

2.Favourite part about your job?
Being crazy busy and the banter

3.Least favourite part about your job?
Quieter periods, winter

4. Favourite tipple at the KA bar?
Glamorgan Brewing Co. beer, Guinness & stella

5.Favourite place to eat out in Swansea?
Don’t go to Swansea- Florentino’s Carmarthen 👌🏼

6. Pet peeve?
Stupid questions..😂

7. Have you met any famous people who have been through the KA doors?
Idris Elba

8.Random fact about yourself?
I’m not Eddy 🤷🏼‍♀️

9. Favourite Gower beauty spot?
Whitford

10. What is getting you through isolation?
Alcohol, kids, chores- in that order

1.When did you join the KA team?
I started in 1993 as a Kitchen Assistant at 16 years old.

2.Favourite part about your job?
I love working with my team, encouraging them to give the best customer service they can as I enjoy seeing our customers having an enjoyable experience when they visit the pub.

3.Least favourite part about your job?
Now this is a hard question as I love my job. My least favourite part I suppose is sitting at my desk.I prefer working with my team and doing the physical work than the mental work. I enjoy engaging with my staff and customers, this is the best part. It also keeps me fit without having to go to the gym.

4. Favourite tipple at the KA bar?
Definitely the House Rioja. Alex can make an awesome cocktail too. Can’t wait for us to re-open to try out our Summer Cocktails.

5.Favourite place to eat out in Swansea?
Myself and my sister went to Bistro Pierre recently and had a fabulous meal with fantastic service, we’ll definitely be returning. Also, I love finishing work and coming home to a lovely meal made by my family.

6. Pet peeve?
When I notice a herd of sheep running towards the hotel! My first thought is, is the side gate open? I immediately have to drop everything as the sheep love to eat our flowers. There have been so many times I have had to chase them around our gardens!

7. Have you met any famous people who have been through the KA doors?
We once had the New Zealand Rugby Team visit us for lunch which I was ecstatic about however as a rugby fan it’s always great to be visited by our local man Dan Biggar, a true legend and awesome rugby player.

8. Random fact about yourself?
Remember earlier I mentioned I started work at the hotel in 1993- I got the job because the person before me got the sack! I later found out that person was my husband 🤣 some things are just meant to be!

9. Favourite Gower beauty spot?
Aw there are so many. Living and working on The Gower for so many years I’ve visited so many beautiful places. I think my favourite is Penny Hitch. Not many people know of this walk. If you want to escape, maybe walk the dog or just want some peace, this is the place to go. Nature at its best.

10. What is getting you through isolation?
The best thing I am experiencing is my family. I am so work driven, I always have been. The quality time I am spending with my children is just amazing. We have had so much fun and the weather has been great too. It’s incredible how their generation has adapted so well (I suppose social media helps, so they can be in contact with their friends). The housework is finished, the garden looks beautiful so I’m now ready as ever to get back to work, I hope it won’t be too long. I can’t wait to be welcoming our first customers through our doors!
