The background;

How did you and your husband meet?

We met in our church, 21st Century Church in Llanelli, where we both volunteered on the youth team. The more time we spent together the closer we became, we used to spend hours talking to each other after youth had finished, I can safely say I married my best friend.

What’s your engagement story?

I knew something was up when Aled was actually organised for a day out, he’d checked the weather, booked a table at the restaurant and was ready on time. We drove to Rhosilli Beach, had food at The Worm’s Head Hotel and walked down to the beach. Aled wanted to take my attention away from him getting the ring out, so he told me to look at the view for a ‘photo’. I turned around to mess the photo up as a joke, but when I turned around he was on one knee, he gave a really sweet speech and asked me to marry him. It’s still one of our favourite beaches.

Where is your engagement ring from? Did your husband choose it himself?

My engagement ring is from H.Samuel. He got some help from my sister, Rachel and my Mam, as I’d sent them different rings that I liked. He used them as inspiration but picked his own, I love it, it’s so simple and classic.

The planning;

How long did you have to plan your wedding and was it enough time?

We got engaged in October 2018 and got married in November 2019 so we had just over a year to plan the wedding. It was enough time, but in the stress of the moment it always felt like we’d missed something. Our wedding coordinator, Rhian, was an amazing help every step of the way. Our family and friends were amazing too, helping us organise it all and set up the venues.

Why did you choose your dress? Which dress did you wear?

I had an appointment at Pleser Bridal during a Jesus Peiro Trunk Show, his dresses are incredible. I went into the appointment with a style in mind but the first few dresses I selected didn’t quite feel like ‘me’. That’s when Marian selected a dress for me to try, it just felt right, like a breath of fresh air, I loved the simple design and the back of the dress was so different. I knew that was my dress.

Why did you choose your venue? Where did you get married? Would you recommend the venue?

We had the ceremony in our church in Llanelli then travelled to The King Arthur Hotel in the Gower for our reception. We’ve been to a few weddings there, including my sister’s, and it’s the most beautiful venue. It has such a cosy environment that it was perfect for us. On top of that they serve some incredible food, provide excellent customer service and Aled loves that they have Gower Gold on tap. We would definitely recommend it to anyone getting married.

The Memories;

What was your first dance song?

Our first dance was to ‘Everything’ by Michael Buble. I love Michael Buble songs and Aled just likes dancing.

How did you feel in your dress?

I felt amazing, the dress was so comfortable and elegant.

How many bridesmaids did you have? Where did you buy your bridesmaids dresses from?

I had two bridesmaids, my sister Rachel and Aled’s sister Eleri. Their dresses were from Phase Eight, I loved the colour on them, they looked beautiful.

What was your colour scheme or theme?

The colour scheme was merlot and blush, the flowers helped bring the colours into reception and the church ceremony. We had fun with the table names, with Aled being ginger we decided to name each table after a ‘Famous Ginger’, we even bought face masks of them all. Looking out at the room and seeing Geri Halliwell, Neil Jenkins and Rupert Grint was quite fun.

What was the best moment of your wedding day?

Our favourite moment was saying our vows in front of our friends and family. It was such a special moment and it meant so much to us both.

What was the funniest thing that happened on the day?

Aled’s brother, who is usually quite quiet and introverted, started busting some moves on the dance floor in the evening. None of us have seen that side of him before, it took us all by surprise!

Advice;

What’s your best tip for dressing for the big day you’d like to share with other brides?

You’ll be spending a lot of time on your feet so be prepared with plasters and flat shoes for the evening.

What advice would you give to other bride’s planning their wedding?

Accept that not everything will go as you planned, but know that as long as your loved ones are with you and you say your vows and ‘I do’s your day will be nothing short of perfect.

Did you discover any amazing suppliers that you’d like other bride’s to know about?

Martin Ellard My Big Day Photos was incredible, he was one of the first suppliers we booked, he photographed my sisters wedding and the photos were amazing so we knew we wanted him to photograph ours. From hair and makeup first thing in the morning, straight through to the dance floor well into the night, he made us feel totally comfortable and relaxed. The photos look amazing, we are so happy with them.

Eve from Eve Francesca Design is simply amazing. Her flowers went above and beyond what I had imagined, we had compliments on them all day and people were even asking to take the centrepieces home with them.

The whole team at Pleser Bridal were amazing, from our initial appointment through to the fittings, they were so friendly and professional. I can’t thank Marian enough for picking out my dress, she saw exactly what I was looking for when I didn’t even know what I wanted.

Looking back, is there anything you’d change? Is there anything you wish you knew before you started planning your wedding?

We wouldn’t change anything. It was perfect!

What was the most stressful thing about planning your wedding?

Like I said earlier, it’s easy to start worrying about things you may have missed. As long as you have a checklist and you keep referring back to it, you’ll cover everything.

Finally;

What 3 words would you use to describe your wedding day?

The best day!
